According to a recent study, patients who have undergone bariatric obesity surgery can accelerate their weight loss with exercise. In the past, it was not known whether working out provided any additional weight loss benefit for patients who had undergone gastric bypass surgery. In this study, researchers evaluated 199 patients who underwent a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure. They noted that the procedure itself yielded tremendous weight loss effects, but they also observed that the patients who were more active after surgery lost significantly more weight compared to those who remained relatively sedentary.
